Post  sicstang Wed Mar 25, 2009 11:24 am

I am looking at getting this set up...its the pypes mid-muffler system with a pypes o/r x-pipe. here is a clip

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrCPx_XNt_E&feature=related

I am a little concerned since the mufflers are located in the middle of the car and will be slightly closer to the ground so large speed bumps may scrape them. I am not that familiar with the company Pypes but haven't seen anything negative about them so far...does anybody know if there have been problems with pypes equipment in the past? thanks for the help

the exhaust sound nice its a little quiet but it could just be the video. i have not heard anything about it but i will do a little digging and see what i come up with. best thing to do is go on a mustang forum and see what they have to say about that exhaust

Hey, I've heard of them .. they have been around for a while just recently geting notice .. they use to mainly make parts for Camaros .. geting big with stangs now ... they have good quality parts for what you pay ... from what I heard it wont give you trouble. You just might need to buy an extention for the one you want, you can get that for like 40.00. Are you doing this for looks or you want the stang to be loud? because if what you want is laud .. a flow master will do the job ... ohhhhh flow master .. I love how they make the mustang sound ... its like the groumd is shaking lol Very Happy

lol...I was looking at flowmaster also but i think i found another system that i like better...the SLP Loudmouth. This completly removes the muffler all together. here is a great clip that compares stock exhaust and the slp...below that link is a link to the product itself...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zdkcZozWKE

now, i did have a question...by completly removing the muffler, I know I will free up some power but will there be any adverse effects since there will not be back pressure?

This exahaust sounds like its just a set of straight pipes. as far the the back pressure as long as the tubing is that large you will still have the back pressure that you need. as far as the adverse affects there might be a check engine light that comes on and stays on but i dont think there was anything else it will do

Tubing is pretty big...3.5 inches...it is an axle back system so my other tubing will be stock (2.5 in) which is the same on the pypes system also...thanks for the info

they are MAC Boom Tubes. they are similar to the slp muffler delete but sound much better i think. you don't lose the deep, throaty sound with the boom tubes like you do with the slp system. that coupled with being 16 lbs lighter than the stock exhaust, im in love.

I like the boom boom tubes, has a nice growl at idle, and when opened up they scream, at least thats what I got from the video. I went with a magnaflow muffler because I didn't want it to be too loud at idle, for when I have to warm up the truck at 6am in the winter. But with the magnaflows I defenitely sacraficed in the loudieness department, it has a great sound, but isn't very loud. The boomy tubies sound good though, post a video if you decide to get em, I'd like to see what they sound like under load on the street.
